Just Pedal are pleased to announce that we will be helping support the inaugral Girona Gala in support of the Qhubeka Foundation. On October 22nd 2016 Matt Brammeier and Nathan Haas, professional cyclists for Team Dimension Data and also the lead organisers of the event will be joining us on the Qhubeka coffee ride with other familiar faces from the UCI world tour.
This will be followed by the Girona Gala. A formal dinner held at the beautiful local venue “El Jardin” in the heart of Girona’s historic city centre. Following the dinner there will be a live auction of cycling memorabilia, bikes, and many other bespoke pieces.
Nathan Haas said: “We’ve been thinking for ages that it would be great to bring a cycling charity event to our home in Girona, and Qhubeka is the best excuse for it we could imagine. Working on this event has been a great way as well to bond with a teammate over things beyond just racing. We both love the chance to do more for Qhubeka than what is required, and we really hope to see the continued success of this partnership and event for years to come. Oh, and of course, this is gonna be a rocking good time. We love any excuse for a damn good end of season party.”
So clear your calendar for the weekend of October 21st – 24th and join us in Girona for a fantastic weekend of cycling.
About the Qhubeka Foundation
Qhubeka helps people move forward and progress by giving bicycles in return for work done to improve communities, the environment or academic results. Having a bicycle changes lives by increasing the distance people can travel, what they can carry, where they can go and how fast they can get there.
We are World Bicycle Relief’s programme in South Africa. World Bicycle Relief is a non-profit organisation transforming individuals and communities through The Power of Bicycles.
We accomplish this mission by designing, sourcing and manufacturing bicycles created to withstand rough terrain and load requirements while meeting the needs of students, healthcare workers, farmers and entrepreneurs.
We strengthen local economies and promote long-term sustainability by assembling bicycles locally, training mechanics, improving the spare parts supply chain, and providing high-quality, affordable bicycles to people in need of transportation.
The 2016 event is being presented with additional support from Dimension Data & Deloitte, who have kindly offered services and support to ensure the viability and maximum charity fundraising.
