Every day, Devon Air Ambulance crews respond to emergencies across some of the most varied and challenging landscapes in the country. Distance and terrain shape every mission.
By taking on the Devon Air Ambulance Cycle Challenge, you’ll experience the terrain that defines our vital work. Every mile supports missions that help save lives.
This isn’t a typical cycling challenge.
This isn’t about chasing a time or beating a personal best. It’s about understanding the barriers we face, reaching people, wherever they are, when every minute matters.
From quiet lanes and rolling farmland to steep climbs and remote stretches, Devon’s landscape is beautiful but complex. It’s what makes riding here rewarding and emergency responses even more demanding.
Three routes. One reality.
Whether the call is near or far our crews face the same barrier of tough terrain and the need to reach patients quickly, every pedalstroke you take raises vital funds to back Air Ambulance crews. Whichever length of challenge you choose, you’re still part of the mission.
🚴 Explorer – Local Response (~30 Mile) – A shorter route that stays closer to the heart of the community.
Taking in Ottery St Mary and Bradninch, this ride reflects an essential truth: proximity doesn’t mean simplicity. Even nearby emergencies are a challenge demanding immediate, expert care.
🚴 Heroic – Extended Reach (~50 Mile) – Push further into Devon’s rural landscape. Riding through the villages of Feniton and towards Dunkeswell and Culmhead, this route introduces longer distances and more demanding terrain, mirroring the missions where access becomes more complex and rapid air response can make all the difference.
🚴 Legend – Critical Distance (~100 Mile) – When a response is needed we’ll respond beyond the county border, this ride stretches towards Fivehead heading out to the Somerset border and into the Blackdown Hills. Longer miles. Tougher climbs. A test of endurance and purpose.
Turn your miles into missions
We ask every rider to raise £100 to support Devon Air Ambulance so every pedal stroke keeps critical care teams responding across the county, by air and road, every single day.
While you’re riding through Devon, our crews will be responding to emergencies. Your effort helps make that possible.
